Bima City Overview

The Bima city is geographically located on Sumbawa island in the eastern part of the position of 118° 41″00 East Longitude and 8° 3″00 South Latitude. Northern boundary is bordered by District Ambalawi Bima Regency, the east by District Wawo Bima regency, the south by District Belo Bima Regency and the west bordering the Gulf of Bima.
The total area is 222.25 km² Bima city which is divided into 5 (five) districts, namely RasanaE Barat District, District Asakota, District Mpunda, District Raba and RasanaE Timur. Based on a complete enumeration census in 2010, the total population is 142,443 people Bima City, consisting of a total of 69,841 men and 72,602 people who the female population. Judging from the distribution of population, Raba District has the highest population that is equal to 34,756 persons; followed by District Mpunda for 32,531 people; District RasanaE Barat for 31,039 people; District Asakota 27,931 people and RasanaE Timur Districts of 16,196 people.

Comparison of the number of men and women (sex ratio) results of 2010 Population Census at Bima City amounted to 96.20%, means a higher female population 3.80% of total male population. Of the 5 (five) districts are mostly sex ratio below 100%. Only District Asakota who have sex ratio over 100% is equal to 101.19%. Districts that have a sex ratio was lowest for the District Mpunda of 89.95%. That is, the population numbers of women in District Mpunda 10.05% higher than the male population.
The inhabitants’s livelihood of the Bima City was dominated by the sector of social services, that is equal to 27.95% of the total population, while the trade sector, Hotels and Restaurants of 23.34%, Agricultural sector 15.87%, the sector Transportation, Storage and Communication of 14.15%.
The formation of the Bima City through a series of process and the long struggle that begin with the netting community aspiration through several of the public’s consultation conducted by the DPRD (parliament) Bima Regency and the Universities in Bima.

Then the Regent Bima formed a technical team Increased status administrative Bima city Government in charge of conducting studies and feasibility studies concerning the preparation of the Bima City. The result, the Regent issued a letter to parliament Bima for approval, and on 22 February 2001 parliament Bima Regency issued Decision No. 3 in 2001 on the Approval Status Improvement of the Government of the Administrative Bima City become the Bima city Government. Process for the process be done and climax occurred on April 10, 2002, parliament the Republic of Indonesia passed the Law No. 13 of 2002 on the Formation of the Bima City Government in West Nusa Tenggara province.
